Privacy Policy

Last updated: 20 October 2026

This page explains, in plain language, what this site collects, what it is used for, where it is kept, and how you can ask for it to be deleted.

Note for review: this is a first draft, written to be checked by a legal adviser before publication. The bracketed fields need to be filled in with the real hosting and email-tool details.

Who is responsible

Marli Owadokun, author and cultural curator, is responsible for the handling of your data through the site marliowadokun.com. Contact: oi@marliowadokun.com.

What is collected

We only collect what you type into one of the forms on the site:

  • Contact form: name, email, subject and message.
  • Newsletter: email address.
  • Journey interest lists: name, email, WhatsApp number, city, number of people and message.

The site never asks for or stores payment details, identity documents or any sensitive information. Payments for the journeys are handled off the site, under a direct contract.

What it is used for

  • Replying to your message.
  • Sending the newsletter you asked to receive.
  • Letting you know when places open and what is new on each journey.
  • Organising the formation of travel groups.

Your data is never sold and is not shared with third parties for advertising.

Legal basis

We rely on your consent — given when you tick the permission box before submitting any form — under Brazil's General Data Protection Law (LGPD, Law 13.709/2018). You may withdraw that consent at any time.

Where the data is kept

  • Form messages arrive by email in the oi@marliowadokun.com inbox.
  • Newsletter and interest-list addresses are held in [EMAIL TOOL NAME].
  • The site is hosted by [HOSTING PROVIDER], which keeps technical access logs.

Data is kept for as long as it is needed for the conversation or to organise the journeys, and deleted whenever you ask.

Cookies

The site uses only the cookies it needs to work and to remember your choice about the cookie notice — that choice is stored in your own browser. No measurement or third-party cookie loads before you click “Accept”. If you click “Decline”, the site carries on working normally.

Your rights

At any time you may ask for:

  • confirmation that we hold data about you, and access to it;
  • correction of incomplete or out-of-date data;
  • deletion of your data;
  • withdrawal of your consent;
  • removal from the mailing list.

How to ask for deletion

Write to oi@marliowadokun.com with the subject “Data deletion”. Requests are handled within 15 business days and confirmed by email. To leave the newsletter, there is also an unsubscribe link at the foot of every message we send.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version applies from the update date shown at the top of this page.
